The Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC)

was established in 1997 as one of three Epidemiological Research and Information Centers (ERICs) within the VA by the Cooperative Studies Program to conduct observational, population-based research.

The primary mission of all ERICs is to enhance VA health care delivery by promoting VA-based population research and to convert those results into a format that Veterans Health Administration providers and administrators can apply to improve patient care.

Today the ERIC conducts observational and epidemiological studies across a number of areas with particular focus on chronic disease, mental health, aging, pharmaco-epidemiology, and genetic epidemiology.

The MAVERIC ERIC is academically affiliated with the Harvard Medical School and School of Public Health, Boston University's Schools of Medicine & Public Health, and Oxford University.
